This is my first scientific illustration post! For my current followers I will be slowly merging my new science illustrations into this blog with my fashion designs. My designs are so heavily influenced by the animals, plants and other organisms I study that I felt it was only natural to show all of my work together.

Hey all, sorry it’s been so long since my last post. I’ve been really busy with life in general and I’m also studying natural science illustration part time at the Rhode Island School of Design. I’m trying to incorporate my love for science and nature into my designs more. It might take me longer to post new images but I will still be updating this blog!

This design was inspired by the beautiful Betta Fish also known as Siamese Fighting Fish or Plakat. I was really inspired by the sheen on the scales, the tattered looking ends of the tail and fins and the multi-colored aspect of the fish.

Sketchbook preview: Bioluminescence

I meant to post these sketches a few days ago but I’ve been so busy with work and life (and summer!) So I apologize for the delay! These are the rough sketches of a theme I’m working on inspired by bioluminescence which is the production and emission of light by a living organism. I’m gathering my inspiration mostly from jellyfish and deep sea ocean creatures for this collection. I can’t wait to work on the final illustrations!! 

Oh, and don’t worry Rockin’ Chicks and any other project I’ve mentioned are still in the works! :]
